You either love them or hate them, either way it begs the
question 'are they really a necessity'? In the popularity stakes
Estate Agents are often ranked closely with car sales men:
looking out for number one! But is it a fair assessment? There's
undoubtedly more to selling houses than merely putting up a ‘For
Sale’ board and arranging viewings.
Many people, particularly in the English marketplace, have
dabbled at selling their own homes, in an attempt to save on
‘outrageous’ Estate Agent fees, but is this a little short
sighted? Ask yourself this - can you negotiate the best deal on
your home? Saving a few thousand pounds on Agent fees can cost
you tens of thousands on the selling price.
Many people underestimate this truly valuable skill and not all
Estate Agents exercise it (especially if they're more interested
in turning properties round quickly). Seller beware - the Agent
who tells you he can sell your property at the drop of a hat,
probably can but is it the best price?
The current property market is looking bleak. Combined economic
insecurity and the much hyped credit crunch paints a very dark
picture of the property arena. On the upside, Estate Agents are
really working hard for their money; instead of the market doing
the work for them.
